Keyword Research
Research the keywords you want to rank highly for, don’t start with too many, 5-10 is a good starting point to not be overwhelmed and spread your efforts too thinly. Don’t just pick keywords you think people are searching for, use tools, analytics and competitor analysis to find out which keywords you should be working on.
Structure
Develope a structure for your keywords on each of the pages you want to rank for. This may mean building specific pages for each of your keywords as you cant rank for all of them on one page.
Optimise
There are lots of things you can do to improve your chances of ranking highly on Google, optimisation is very important. Below we discuss some of those factors in more detail but mainly you should be focusing on structure, quality content, internal links and page speed.
Build Links
Google uses authoruty as a ranking factor, the more links you have from high Page Rank pages the more likely Google will see you as an authoritive source on a subject. Relevant links are important, don’t go and use a company to build you 1000 low quality links. A good idea here is to look at what your competitors are doing and see if you can add your link too. Articles, research and blogs are a great way of getting links.
Measure
Making changes and improvements takes time to come in to effect, Google may not crawl your site again for a few weeks. Don’t make lots of changes all the time, make changes and measure their effectiveness over time.
